Meet the Team: Debbie Bellwood, Service Delivery Coordinator

What is your role at Elementary Technology and how did you get here?

I recently joined the Service Delivery Team at Elementary Technology as a Service Delivery Coordinator. Before taking a 12-year career break to have my two children, I have worked in many different roles. Throughout my career, I have been dedicated to supporting sales teams, installation teams and providing excellent service to customers.

How does your role at Elementary Technology support schools?

My role is incredibly important when it comes to supporting schools with their technology. I and the Service Delivery team are here to order the technology and make sure everything is delivered on time. We also support customers with getting their new technology up and running, whether that’s booking and managing installations, to helping and supporting schools with any queries they might have. I go the extra mile to make sure schools get their technology on time and the installation is carried out properly and to the highest standard.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

I really enjoy building a good rapport with the schools and suppliers we liaise with. Making sure that I understand the customer and their needs so that I can help them in the best way I can, really makes my role enjoyable.

What’s your biggest challenge?

As someone new to the audio-visual industry, my biggest challenge is knowing the technical elements related to each product. The world of EdTech is something completely new to me, which also puts me in a great position to empathise with schools that may not also have the technical knowledge about touchscreens.

What is your favourite piece of EdTech?

Being new to the team, I’m still learning about all of the wonderful products we sell to support schools. However, after trying out some of the technology in our Customer Experience Centre, I really like the pens provided with the SMART Boards because the colour pen relates to the colour drawn on the screen, which makes it easy for teachers to switch between.

As someone new to the world of AV, what advice would you give to others who don’t have technical knowledge?

The one thing I would say is to make sure you get trained properly on the equipment. Elementary Technology have their own Training Manager who supports internally and externally and our Get Set Go portal means that you can get clued up on your technology, in your own time. I would also say, never be afraid to pick up the phone and ask for support, service delivery will always be happy to help.

What do you get up to outside of work?

I have two teenage children who enjoy playing sports, so you can always find me cheering them on at the side of a rugby pitch, cricket field or golf course. I also like to take some time for myself and love going to the cinema. Some of my favourite films include Pretty Woman and Dirty Dancing.
