Classroom Audio Technology
Consider how often a teacher asks their pupils to listen. Then consider that the science shows pupils can’t listen like adults do.
Effective audio technology in your classroom amplifies your voice, engages your learners and ensures your message is heard – including by remote learners
- Head Teachers
Let’s Start With Why…
-
Even Audio Distribution
Avoid shouting at pupils in front whilst those near the back struggle to hear
-
Support remote learners
Feed crystal clear audio through your necklace-style mic to your home learners
-
Inclusion for EAL pupils
Cognitive overload - amplified when children are live-translating what you're saying
-
Protect your voice
Raising your voice, even slightly, for several hours per day contributes to voice strain
-
Lesson capture
Record your voice to accompany visual lesson capture for sharing, home learners and more

A school wouldn’t tolerate poor lighting in their classrooms – pupils would not access the teaching as they should, they’d become distracted, lessons would not be received to their full effect and ultimately, teaching and learning would be affected.
The same applies to poor management of classroom audio; a challenge amplified further as young people’s hearing is less well-developed compared to adults. In fact, the science shows that the average student misses 25% of everything a teacher is saying. (Research by C. Crandell – Effect of classroom acoustics on speech recognition in paediatric populations).
Whether in a room with poor acoustics, with pupils with hearing difficulties, with English as a second language or simply to ensure their attention is retained, the key is to create a balanced, even, controlled audio experience. This advanced technology actually helps students understand more by emphasising those speech frequencies that contribute most to meaning.
We treat school audio as we do all other education technology; as a vital part of the technology jigsaw.
This applies now more than ever as audio technology, correctly integrated into other technology in the classroom, feeds crystal-clear voice audio through to home learners using your school comms platform.
Ask us about the following as some of our range:
- Soundfield systems – fixed and mobile – ensure even sound for all and avoid voice strain
- Portable PA systems for indoor and outdoor activities
- Soundbars for purer, stronger audio compared to integrated screen speakers
- Classroom audio for managed sound coverage
To truly appreciate the benefits, ask us for a free trial, a video demo or a live demonstration at your school.
