Proud to support Hand on Heart

This shock changed to despair when we heard that if a defibrillator is used within 3-5 minutes, survival chances increase from 6% to 74%, yet only a minority of schools have one on site.

Isn’t that about the most shocking fact you’ve heard for a long time?

Yes, we thought so too, which is why we were moved to start formally supporting a leading voice in the campaign to install a defibrillator into each and every school in the UK – Hand on Heart. Schools are so important to everyday life, having a defibrillator on the premises may not just save the lives of the students and staff but also parents, volunteers and residents in the local community too.

Their Vision

Hand on Heart would like all educational establishments and community facilities used by children to have defibrillators in place. It’s also vital that people are confident to manage a health emergency, and that deaths from sudden cardiac arrest are prevented.

Their charitable aims

  • To raise awareness of Sudden Cardiac Arrest, particularly in the young
  • To engage with educational establishments and community venues where children are present to fund and provide defibrillators
  • To educate young people in Life Support Skills

Since 2012 Hand on Heart have grown from strength to strength. They have a dedicated team who are committed to providing defibrillators and CPR training to help reduce the staggering statistic that 12 young people die each week due to a Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

Every penny is well spent, with Hand on Heart using 97% of its total income on charitable activity; far greater that the recommendations set out by the Charity Commission.

Some achievements

  • Gained national recognition
  • Received Lottery funding
  • Created Heart Safe campaign areas
  • Despatched over 1,000 defibrillators to schools across the UK
  • More than 9,352 staff have learned how to use a defibrillator
  • Basic Life Skills have been taught to more than 30,570 children

Hand on Heart have successfully protected more than 300,000 hearts daily in schools across the UK!

Why are we supporting Hand on Heart?

Elementary Technology speak with hundreds of schools each and every week, and as a growing company we believe more than ever we’d like to give something back. We will therefore be working hard to raise awareness among our customers and non-customers alike, running charity events, office fundraising days and also dedicating our team’s time to directly support the charity throughout the coming months and beyond.

We are also planning some exciting initiatives which will support our customers to bring in a defibrillator into their school.

Speak to us if you’d like to discuss getting a defibrillator in your school. And in the meantime, visit handonheart.org  for more information.
