The PE and Sport Premium continues to provide schools with opportunities to enhance physical activity and wellbeing for pupils. Designed to help schools embed active habits from an early age, this funding supports high-quality PE, sport, and physical activity in primary education.
With so many ways to use the funding, schools are encouraged to explore options that create long-lasting, meaningful benefits. From staff training to new equipment and innovative teaching tools.
Supporting Active, Healthy Lifestyles
The Government’s PE and Sport Premium helps schools align with key national health priorities:
•The UK Chief Medical Officers recommend at least 60 minutes of physical activity per day for pupils (20 minutes for those with disabilities).
•Schools are expected to provide at least 2 hours of high-quality PE per week, along with extracurricular opportunities.
•Research from Sport England shows that while 47% of pupils meet daily activity targets, there is still work to do in making sport and movement accessible to all.
By using the funding effectively, schools can build pupils’ confidence in physical activity, encourage healthy habits that last a lifetime, and enhance learning through movement.
Why Schools Are Exploring ActiveFloor
Many schools are looking at new ways to bring movement into the classroom beyond traditional sports. ActiveFloor is an interactive floor projection system that allows pupils to learn through movement, combining physical activity with subjects like maths, English, science, and history. With long lasting, meaningful impact in mind, investing in an ActiveFloor allows schools to bring physical activity into far more than just the 2-hours of PE per week.
By integrating physical activity with more academic subjects, it amplifies the health benefits from PE lessons whilst making learning fun and encouraging greater knowledge retention.

How ActiveFloor Supports PE and Sport Premium Priorities
ActiveFloor helps schools extend health benefits from physical activity beyond PE lessons by providing access to over 10,000 ready-made lessons created by educators. Teachers can easily integrate these into their teaching, regardless of their IT skills. Supporting staff CPD, aligning with the Government’s focus on ensuring teachers have the confidence and knowledge to introduce physical activities to the classroom.
Pupils can jump onto number lines in maths, explore historical events through interactive timelines, or engage with literacy activities using movement. This approach supports the DfE’s expectation that schools provide at least two hours of high-quality PE per week, while also encouraging activity in other subject areas.
In addition to promoting individual engagement, ActiveFloor and SportsWall foster teamwork and confidence. Pupils can compete, collaborate, and develop problem-solving skills in a fun and supportive environment. The interactive nature of the system allows pupils to build social and communication skills in a pressure-free way, making physical activity enjoyable and accessible for everyone.
Using the PE and Sport Premium to Make a Lasting Impact
The PE and Sport Premium funding is a fantastic opportunity to improve PE, increase engagement, and bring new ideas into the classroom. Schools have until 31st July 2025 to make this years investment count, ensuring that pupils benefit from active, engaging learning experiences.
