Pen and paper registers just aren’t good enough for schools these days. So the move to marking attendance on a computer from clipboards meant that teachers could get stuck in with lessons quicker and that mistakes are harder to make. Human error is an unavoidable thing and nobodies fault, but by cutting back on the processes involved with signing a student in, they will happen less.

While this change did speed up the process and make it easier, surely there’s another step forward from that. The ability for students to simply scan a card and mark themselves as there, sending the information straight to your school’s management system, is what makes InVentry so special. Completely get rid of signing in/out at reception or counting heads and names in each lesson by allowing students to swipe their card and do it themselves.

InVentry Anywhere

These features look a bit difficult to manage, especially in larger schools with a lot of students and staff moving around. Understanding this, InVentry has designed an app allowing members of the admin to read, write and move data sent by any of the InVentry terminals.

The app is great for general sign in/out management:

  • Send alerts and evacuation notifications to staff, giving teachers the chance to mark themselves as safe with all their pupils present.
  • Sign In/Out remotely if you’re not able to or just forgot to do so.
  • Book in guests ahead of them arriving. Making it quick and easy to get them through the door and get a notification when they do.

Safety with Paxton and InVentry

Safety is always important in schools. With invacuation and lockdowns on the rise, action needs to be taken to make sure a school is ready for any problem.

InVentry has considered this and has joined hands with Paxton, the access management system, to add security to your school. Paxton’s devices can be configured to lock and unlock doors when an InVentry card is swiped against them.

Again, sending that data to your school’s internal system so you can know when a door was opened and by who. Perfect for tracking down students in an emergency. It also means that not having one of these cards will deny you access to a chosen area. Intruders can’t get far when every door is locked electronically, giving your staff and students plenty of time to make themselves safe.

This has the added bonus of being able to choose who gets to access what area. Keeping students away from areas they shouldn't normally be.
