Realising this was affecting the morale of teachers, the engagement of pupils and also teaching and learning outcomes, the school approached Elementary Technology after hearing several other success stories in the region.
After we sat down to discuss their challenges, we advised the best place to start with all schools looking to upgrade their display technology was with our Classroom Healthcheck. This enabled the school to understand the effect their technology was having on teaching and learning; which technology was working, which was out of warranty, which was incompatible with their IT, which teachers hadn’t received training and so on. Several copies of this detailed hard copy report were provided.
The results indicated that the school needed to upgrade all their classrooms; this confirmed what the school leadership suspected, and crucially enabled them to present independent evidence of this to the school governors. A vital step in justifying the spend to them, and particularly the photography within it showed the school had no option.
As applies to any school in this situation, the Torkington had an enormous range of options! So to get an independent overview of what these upgrade options were, the headteacher, ICT coordinator and Chair of Governors visited our Experience Centre. Being able to see all the big brands, a variety of display technologies, to discuss their suitability and try them out without biased sales patter of an inconvenient exhibition or a manufacturer demonstration, was instrumental in their decision to upgrade the Promethean ActivPanel touchscreens.
After a project-managed installation in partnership with their local authority, we are now supporting the school with bespoke, pedagogical training for the lifetime of the technology.
See how Daniel Handford proves that we go above and beyond, all a part of our service.
